Pain Medicine (Algology)
Electrodiagnostic Neurology, MSc

# Neurorehabilitation & musculoskeletal pain, explained by a specialist

Prof. Dr. Engin Çakar is a pioneering physician in comprehensive neurorehabilitation, with advanced experience in combining classical rehabilitation methods and robotic rehabilitation in a hybrid approach. He is a specialist in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R) and in Pain Medicine (Algology), and holds an MSc in Electrodiagnostic Neurology. His two equal areas of focus are **neurorehabilitation** after stroke, brain or spinal cord injury and neurological disease, and **musculoskeletal pain** of the spine and joints.

## Areas of expertise

- Comprehensive physical rehabilitation and physiotherapy, led by a PM&R physician
- Advanced experience in combining clinical physiotherapy and rehabilitation with technology-focused treatments
- Robotic physiotherapy and rehabilitation for walking and arm–hand recovery
- Musculoskeletal pain medicine: specialist care for spine and joint painKnee, shoulder and hip pain

## Robotic physiotherapy and rehabilitation

Robot-assisted gait training and upper-limb (arm, hand and finger) robotic therapy, used as part of physical medicine and rehabilitation alongside classical methods. Robotic therapy supports intensive, repetitive, task-oriented practice for relearning movement.

## DrCakar NeuroRecovery Method

Two well-established principles of neurorehabilitation guide recovery: *time is brain*, which calls for starting rehabilitation as early as it is medically safe, and *use it or lose it*, which holds that intensive, repetitive use of affected functions drives neuroplasticity. The DrCakar NeuroRecovery Method takes these principles into account and brings together technology-focused treatments, such as robotic rehabilitation, with classical physiotherapy and rehabilitation methods in a hybrid synthesis, planned individually by Prof. Dr. Engin Çakar.

For patients abroad, Prof. Çakar offers in-person examination in Istanbul, Türkiye, and second-opinion reviews of existing reports and imaging. See [Contact](https://drmotiva.com/en/contact/).
